Gaurav Upadhyay is an emerging scholar in the field of Political Science/Public Administration with an interdisciplinary academic foundation spanning engineering, governance, and public policy. Currently pursuing his Ph.D. in Political Science, from Kumaun University-Nainital, he holds a Master of Arts in Political Science with distinction and was awarded the Vice-Chancellor’s Gold Medal for academic excellence. He has also qualified the UGC-NET examination in Political Science demonstrating his academic competence and eligibility for higher education teaching and research.

Prior to transitioning into the social sciences, he earned a Bachelor of Technology in Electrical Engineering from the prestigious GBPUAT Pantnagar, equipping him with a unique techno-analytical perspective that informs his contemporary research interests in governance innovation, public policy, artificial intelligence in administration, and digital transformation. His major areas of academic interest include Indian Constitution, Good Governance, Public Administration, Indian Foreign Policy, Public Policy, and Indian Knowledge System.

He has established a promising research profile with publications in reputed national and international journals, including Scopus-indexed and UGC-CARE listed journals, with research contributions spanning themes such as international relations, governance reforms, democratic institutions, public administration, strategic affairs, and policy studies. His scholarly works have appeared in prestigious journals published by global academic platforms including Taylor & Francis

In addition to journal publications, he has contributed multiple book chapters in edited academic volumes and has also served as an editor of an academic book, titled- Challenging Consesus-unpopular opinions of 2025”  reflecting his growing engagement in scholarly publishing and academic knowledge dissemination. Furthermore, he has actively presented papers at various national and international conferences on themes related to governance, democracy, strategic studies, and sustainable development.

He has further enhanced his academic and research competencies through participation in faculty development and capacity-building programmes, including a Faculty Development Programme on Quantitative Research using SPSS, jointly organized by the Directorate of Research and Publications, Rashtriya Raksha University, and Law Teachers India, aimed at strengthening interdisciplinary research methodology in social sciences. Additionally, he completed an academic workshop on Climate Change: Economics, Politics and Global Governance organized by Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati, reflecting his engagement with contemporary global policy and governance discourses.

 Through his academic pursuits, research contributions, and interdisciplinary expertise, he remains committed to advancing impactful scholarship in political science, public administration,  governance studies, and policy innovation.
