Dr. Dheeraj Pant is working as an Assistant Professor (AC) in the Department of Geography and NRM, School of Earth and Environmental Science, Uttarakhand Open University, Haldwani, District Nainital, Uttarakhand. He obtained his Doctorate in Geography from Kumaun University, Nainital in 2024 and has successfully qualified the University Grants Commission – National Eligibility Test (UGC-NET) in both 2017 and 2018. In recognition of his academic potential, he was awarded the prestigious Doctoral Fellowship by the Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR), New Delhi, in 2022. Dr. Pant research expertise lies primarily in the domain of climate change and its multifaceted impacts, particularly focusing on human health, natural resource dynamics, and community resilience in vulnerable ecological zones. He has been actively involved in several international, multi-institutional collaborative research projects funded by renowned organizations such as the International Water Management Institute (IWMI), Sri Lanka; the Asia-Pacific Network for Global Change Research (APN), Japan; and the Royal Society, United Kingdom. His research portfolio encompasses field-based investigations, climatic data analysis, and community-centered studies in the Indian Himalayan region. Dr. Pant also holds foundational proficiency in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and Remote Sensing technologies, and is adept at scientific communication and stakeholder engagement. His scholarly contributions are reflected in numerous publications in peer-reviewed journals, addressing critical themes such as urban environmental vulnerabilities, ecotourism and sustainable livelihoods, and climatic variability in mountainous terrains.
